Located 50km northeast of Mudgee in NSW’s western coalfields, Wilpinjong Mine is a major regional employer and a key contributor to both the local and state economies.
Owned and operated by Peabody, Wilpinjong responsibly produces coal to provide affordable, reliable energy locally and globally while the world works to reduce emissions.
The Wilpinjong Mine is planning to modify and extend its operations, which will continue to support local jobs, the economy and the community.
Our future plans will ensure Wilpinjong can continue as one of the lowest-emission coal extraction operations in the region.
We currently provide around 25 per cent of NSW coal-generated power supply, helping to keep the lights on in homes and businesses.
Most of our Wilpinjong team live locally and share a commitment to protect the environmental values of our special region. We have comprehensive plans to minimise impacts on the environment.
